Vietnam to Myanmar visa requirements

Vietnam ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist visits to Myanmar. They can enter visa-free for up to 30 days, provided they arrive and depart through one of Myanmar's three international airports (Yangon, Mandalay, or Nay Pyi Taw). As of 2026, Vietnam and Myanmar are both ASEAN member states and maintain a visa-exemption arrangement for ordinary passport holders. Vietnamese ordinary passport holders may enter Myanmar visa-free for tourism for up to 30 days. The exemption originally took effect on 26 October 2013 (14 days) and was extended to 30 days from 1 January 2020. A key condition applies: the visa-free entry is valid only when arriving and departing via one of Myanmar's three designated international airports - Yangon International Airport (RGN), Mandalay International Airport (MDL), or Nay Pyi Taw International Airport (NYT). Travelers entering by land border generally cannot use the visa exemption and must hold an eVisa or other valid visa. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival. Travelers wanting to stay longer than 30 days, enter by land, or visit for non-tourism purposes should obtain the Myanmar eTourist visa (eVisa, 28-day stay, USD 50, issued in about 3 working days). Myanmar is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 rules and ETIAS do not apply.
