Vietnam to Japan visa requirements

Visa required. Vietnamese ordinary passport holders can use a paper short-stay visa route, or a 15-day tourism eVISA only through designated package-tour agencies. Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa before travelling to Japan; Vietnam is not on Japan's short-term visa exemption list. For tourism, the ordinary paper short-stay visa route can allow stays up to 90 days as granted, and single-entry visas are normally valid for 3 months from issue. Japan eVISA is narrower for Vietnam: Vietnamese nationals residing in Vietnam must participate in a package tour organized by designated travel agencies, use an ordinary passport, travel by air or an eligible scheduled passenger ferry, and the eVISA period of stay is 15 days. Japan's 2026 fee notice lists 520,000 VND for a single-entry visa and 1,030,000 VND for a double or multiple-entry visa for ordinary applicants. Visit Japan Web is an arrival-procedure service for immigration, customs, and tax-free shopping; it does not replace the visa.
