Vietnam to Thailand visa requirements

Vietnamese ordinary passport holders do not need a visa for Thailand for tourism or short-term business. As of 2026-06-29, the in-force visa exemption allows up to 60 days per entry, extendable once by up to 30 days; TDAC is mandatory within 3 days before arrival. Vietnam is listed by Thailand's Department of Consular Affairs under the current 60-day visa exemption scheme for ordinary passport holders. As of 2026-06-29, Vietnamese visitors may enter Thailand visa-free for tourism and short-term business engagements for up to 60 days per entry, and may apply once at Thai Immigration for an extension of up to 30 more days for THB 1,900. All non-Thai nationals entering by air, land, or sea must submit the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 3 days before arrival. Important pending change: Thailand's Cabinet approved revisions on 2026-05-19 to revoke the 60-day scheme, but the Department of Consular Affairs says the new conditions take effect only 15 days after publication in the Royal Gazette; before that effective date, current entries keep their permitted stay. Vietnam also appears on Thailand's 30-day bilateral ordinary-passport exemption list, so travellers should re-check close to departure in case the rollback has been published. Carry a Vietnamese ordinary passport valid at least 6 months, onward or return travel, accommodation details, and funds of THB 20,000 per person or THB 40,000 per family if asked.
