Japan to India visa requirements

Japanese ordinary passport holders can use India's Visa-on-Arrival for eligible 60-day visits at six airports, or apply online for an e-Tourist Visa before travel. Japanese ordinary passport holders are not visa-free for India, but they have two official short-stay routes. For eligible tourism, business, conference or medical visits of up to 60 days, Japan is one of the nationalities that can obtain Visa-on-Arrival at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata or Mumbai airports; the fee is INR 2,000 or equivalent foreign currency, and the visa may be double-entry, non-extendable and non-convertible. For planned travel, wider airport/seaport coverage, or longer tourist validity, Japanese nationals can apply on the official India e-Visa portal. The official 20 February 2026 e-Tourist fee table lists Japan at USD 10 for a 30-day e-TV during April-June, USD 25 for a 30-day e-TV during July-March, USD 25 for a 1-year e-TV, and USD 25 for a 5-year e-TV, plus payment charges. The official e-Visa FAQ lists 33 airports and 19 seaports for e-Visa entry and says land-border entry is not allowed with e-Visa. Passport validity of at least 6 months and 2 blank pages are required; Pakistani-origin travelers and diplomatic/official passport holders should use the appropriate regular visa route.
