Vietnam to Mali visa requirements

Yes, a visa is required. Vietnamese ordinary passport holders are not on Mali's visa-exemption or visa-on-arrival lists, and Mali has no e-visa, so a tourist visa must be obtained in advance from a Malian embassy or consulate before travel. As of June 2026, holders of an ordinary Vietnam passport need a visa to enter Mali for tourism. Mali grants visa-free entry only to ECOWAS member states and a short list of others (Algeria, Chad, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia, UAE, Hong Kong, Macao), none of which includes Vietnam. Visa-on-arrival is currently available only to nationals of Rwanda, and Mali does not operate a public e-visa system for ordinary tourists. Vietnamese travelers must therefore apply in advance at a Malian diplomatic mission (Mali has no embassy in Vietnam, so applications are typically routed through the nearest accredited mission, often the Embassy of Mali in Beijing or another regional embassy). A short-stay tourist visa is generally single-entry, valid for up to about 30 days of stay, processed in roughly 5-10 business days. Travelers should also note Mali requires proof of yellow fever vaccination and that security conditions across much of Mali are severe, with most foreign governments advising against all or all-but-essential travel.
