Vietnam to Lithuania visa requirements

Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Lithuania for tourism. Vietnam is on the EU's visa-required list (Annex I), so ETIAS does not apply. Apply before you travel. Lithuania is a full member of the Schengen Area. Vietnam is listed in Annex I of the EU visa regulation, meaning ordinary Vietnamese passport holders must obtain a Schengen visa for any short stay, including tourism. The correct visa is the uniform short-stay "Type C" Schengen visa, which permits stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period and is valid for travel throughout all Schengen states, not only Lithuania. Because Vietnam is NOT a visa-exempt country, the new ETIAS travel authorization (expected to launch in late 2026) does NOT apply to Vietnamese nationals; ETIAS is only for travelers from visa-free countries. Vietnamese applicants should apply through the Lithuanian diplomatic mission or its appointed visa application center (VFS Global) covering Vietnam, or via another Schengen state's consulate where Lithuania has an outsourcing arrangement. The standard adult visa fee is EUR 90, plus a service-center fee, and applicants must provide travel insurance with at least EUR 30,000 medical coverage, proof of funds, accommodation, and a return itinerary. Processing is normally about 15 calendar days but can extend to 45-60 days in busy periods, so applying 3-4 weeks ahead (up to 6 months before travel) is strongly advised. Separately, the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) began rolling out in 2026, adding biometric registration at external Schengen borders, but it does not change the visa requirement.
