Vietnam to Gabon visa requirements
Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa for Gabon. The standard route for tourism is the official Gabon e-Visa (DGDI), applied for online before travel; the approval lets you fly into Léon Mba International Airport in Libreville, where the visa sticker is issued and the fee is paid (often in cash) on arrival. Gabon is not in Vietnam's visa-free or visa-on-arrival list, and Vietnam is not among the countries Gabon exempts from visas, so a Vietnamese ordinary passport holder must obtain a visa before traveling. Gabon is in Central Africa (not the Schengen area), so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. The recommended and most accessible option is the official Gabon e-Visa run by the Direction Générale de la Documentation et de l'Immigration (DGDI) at evisa.dgdi.ga. Applicants submit a passport bio page, a recent photo, travel/accommodation details and proof of onward travel online; an authorization is issued (commonly within about 72 hours / 3 business days). The e-Visa authorization is valid ONLY for entry by air through Léon Mba International Airport in Libreville, where the physical visa sticker is delivered. The government fee is EUR 70 (about 45,000 XAF) plus a EUR 15 processing fee for a 1-3 month single-entry visa, or EUR 185 (about 120,000 XAF) plus EUR 15 for a 6-month multiple-entry visa. As of early 2026, fees have generally been collected in cash on arrival when the sticker is issued; Gabon announced an initiative in late 2025 to integrate online payment so the whole process can be completed before departure, but travelers should be prepared to pay in cash on arrival and carry the exact amount. A traditional visa from a Gabonese diplomatic mission is also possible for those entering by land/sea or unable to use the e-Visa. Carry the same passport used for the application, as the passport number is encoded in the visa. Sources may differ on whether payment is now fully online; be conservative and confirm the current payment method on the official DGDI portal before booking.
