Vietnam to Algeria visa requirements

Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a tourist visa for Algeria, obtained in advance from the Algerian Embassy in Hanoi. There is no e-visa or general visa-on-arrival. Notably, Vietnamese nationals are exempt from the visa fee, but the full application and in-person submission are still mandatory. As of 2026, Algeria (DZ) is a visa-required destination for Vietnam (VN) ordinary passport holders traveling for tourism. Vietnam is not among the small group of nationalities (e.g., Tunisia, Morocco, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Libya, Seychelles) granted visa-free entry, and it is not eligible for Algeria's limited visa-on-arrival schemes (which cover only cruise passengers and organized tour groups to the southern provinces). Algeria does not operate a general electronic visa (e-visa) program; a December 2024 government proposal to expand visa-on-arrival nationwide has not been implemented as a digital e-visa as of mid-2026. Therefore, a Vietnamese traveler must apply for a short-stay Tourist Visa in person at the Embassy of Algeria in Vietnam (13 Phan Chu Trinh, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) before departure. The application must be lodged at least 20 days before travel. A distinctive feature for Vietnamese citizens: they are explicitly exempt from the entry visa fee per the Algerian Embassy in Hanoi, though all documentary requirements and the in-person process still apply. Algeria is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS are not relevant to this route.
