Q: Is there a fee to enter Ukraine as a tourist?

No. Visa-free entry for short stays carries no visa or application fee. Fees only apply if you need a long-stay D-type visa for stays over 90 days.

Q: Can I fly directly into Ukraine?

No. Ukrainian airspace is closed to civil aviation due to the war. The only way in is overland via Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, or Moldova, and a Level 4 'Do Not Travel' advisory is in effect.

Q: Is Ukraine part of the Schengen area or does ETIAS apply?

No. Ukraine is not in the Schengen area, so the EU Schengen rules and ETIAS do not apply to entering Ukraine. The 90/180-day limit is Ukraine's own visa-free allowance.

Q: What documents do I need at the border?

A valid U.S. passport with a blank page, proof of health insurance, and proof of sufficient funds. You may also be asked for proof of onward or return travel.
