Stays beyond 90 days require a D-type visa and a temporary residence permit obtained in advance from a Ukrainian embassy/consulate and the State Migration Service; these cannot be obtained at the border. Ukraine is NOT in the Schengen area, so the EU Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to entering Ukraine; the 90/180 limit here is Ukraine's own visa-free allowance. Critically, Ukraine is under martial law: a Level 4 "Do Not Travel" advisory is in force, Ukrainian airspace is closed to civil aviation (no commercial flights), and the only entry routes are the western land borders.
