United States to Cambodia visa requirements

US ordinary passport holders need a visa for Cambodia. The easiest option for a short tourist trip is the Cambodia eVisa (Type T), applied for online at evisa.gov.kh before travel for about USD 30 plus a small processing fee. It grants a single-entry stay of up to 30 days. Visa on arrival is also available at major airports and land borders for the same fee. Separately, all air arrivals must submit the free Cambodia e-Arrival Card within 7 days before arrival. A United States ordinary passport holder is NOT visa-free for Cambodia. Cambodia requires a visa for US citizens, but offers two convenient channels for short tourist visits: an online eVisa (Tourist Type T) obtained in advance at the official portal evisa.gov.kh, and a visa on arrival (VOA) issued at the three international airports (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap-Angkor, Sihanoukville) and major land border crossings. Both cost about USD 30 and grant a single entry with a stay of up to 30 days, extendable once for a further 30 days at the Cambodian Immigration Office. The eVisa is recommended because it is arranged before departure, removing the risk of airport queues or border issues; it is electronically processed in about 3 business days and is valid for entry within 90 days of issue. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry, with at least one blank page. Note that the official government eVisa fee is USD 30, though the portal adds a small processing charge (commonly quoted around USD 6, total roughly USD 36); third-party agent sites charge considerably more and should be avoided. The embassy (mail) Type-T visa is also USD 30 but takes 7-10 working days. Separately and importantly, since 1 January 2025 ALL travelers arriving by air must complete the free Cambodia e-Arrival Card (immigration, health and customs declaration combined) online at arrival.gov.kh within 7 days before arrival; this is NOT a visa and does not replace it. Verdict: evisa (with VOA as an equivalent alternative). Verified against the US State Department country page and the official Cambodian eVisa and e-Arrival portals as of 2026-05-30.
