🇺🇸UNITED STATES🇻🇳VIETNAMUS-VN Do United States passport holders need a visa to visit Vietnam?
US citizens need a Vietnam e-Visa (USD 25 single, USD 50 multi) valid up to 90 days; apply online at evisa.gov.vn. American passport holders are not on Vietnam's visa-exemption list and must apply for a Vietnam e-Visa before travel. Since August 2023, the e-Visa is valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and is accepted at all 33+ international ports of entry. Apply at evisa.gov.vn (official) for USD 25 single or USD 50 multiple entry; processing takes 3 working days. Direct flights are limited - most US travellers connect via Tokyo (HND/NRT), Seoul (ICN), Taipei (TPE), Hong Kong (HKG), or Singapore (SIN) to Hanoi (HAN) or Ho Chi Minh City (SGN); United operates SFO-SGN seasonally and Vietnam Airlines launched SFO-SGN direct in 2021. Avoid scam visa-on-arrival agencies - the genuine e-Visa is the only safe pre-arrival option.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
