United States to The Bahamas visa requirements

No visa required. US ordinary passport holders can enter the Bahamas visa-free for tourism for stays of up to 8 months. You need a valid passport, a return or onward ticket, and proof of sufficient funds. US ordinary passport holders do not need a visa to visit the Bahamas as bona fide tourists. The Bahamas Department of Immigration exempts US citizens from a visa for visits not exceeding eight (8) months. On arrival, an immigration officer typically grants an initial stay of about 3-4 weeks (extendable through the Department of Immigration), with the maximum permissible at the officer's discretion. You must carry a valid US passport (book required for air travel, with at least two blank pages for the entry stamp), and you may be asked to show a return/onward ticket and evidence of sufficient funds to be self-sustaining. Working is not permitted on a visitor entry. There is no eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival process to complete: entry is granted by the immigration officer at the port of entry. Note that closed-loop cruises starting and ending at the same US port may accept a passport card plus proof of citizenship, but a passport book is strongly recommended and required for air travel. Cash or negotiable instruments of US$10,000 or more must be declared on entry and exit.
