How to apply

Your U.S. passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure from Schengen and issued within the last 10 years.

Prepare EES on arrival
Since 10 April 2026, first-time arrivals scan passport biometrics (face and fingerprints) at the border. Subsequent entries use the same biometric record — no more stamps.

Apply for ETIAS (from Q4 2026)
Submit the online ETIAS application before travel once it becomes mandatory. Fee around €7 for ages 18-70, free outside that range. Approval is typically minutes, but allow 96 hours.
