Singapore to North Korea visa requirements

Singapore ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter North Korea (DPRK). There is no visa-free, eVisa, visa-on-arrival or ETA channel for Singaporean tourists. Tourism is permitted only as part of an organized group tour arranged through a state-registered travel agency, which handles the visa (usually issued as a separate tourist card, not stamped in the passport). As of mid-2026 general tourism is still effectively suspended for most nationalities, and Singapore's MFA advises avoiding all non-essential travel. North Korea has one of the most restrictive entry regimes in the world. Every visitor, including Singapore ordinary passport holders, must obtain a visa in advance, and independent tourism is not allowed. All tourist travel must be organized through a state-controlled travel bureau (such as KITC) or an authorized international tour operator (e.g. Koryo Tours, Young Pioneer Tours, Uri Tours) that liaises with a North Korean agency registered with the State General Bureau of Tourist Guidance. The operator submits the visa application on the traveler's behalf; the visa is typically issued as a tourist card or separate document and is not stamped into the passport. The only visa-free arrangements relate to diplomatic/official passports of certain friendly states (which includes Singapore official/diplomatic passports) and limited Chinese border day-trips, none of which apply to a Singapore ordinary passport used for tourism. Singapore has no diplomatic mission in North Korea, so consular assistance is extremely limited. Critically, as of June 2026 North Korea has not fully reopened to international tourism: after briefly resuming some routes in early 2026, authorities again suspended access for all foreign nationals except Russians, and tourist visas, flights and hotels generally cannot yet be booked. Travelers should treat any tour booking as conditional on the country reopening, confirm current status with an authorized operator, and heed the Singapore MFA advisory to avoid all non-essential travel.
