🇸🇬SINGAPORE🇦🇺AUSTRALIASG-AU Do Singapore passport holders need a visa to visit Australia?
Singapore ordinary passport holders need an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA, subclass 601) before flying to Australia for tourism — there is no visa-free entry, but the ETA is fast, low-cost, and applied for via the official Australian ETA app. Singapore is on Australia's list of ETA-eligible passports, so Singapore citizens cannot enter Australia visa-free. For tourism or business of up to 3 months per visit, you must hold a granted Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601) electronically linked to your passport before boarding. As of 2025-26, the ETA can only be applied for through the official Australian ETA mobile app (the old web/agent channels were retired). The app charges a non-refundable AUD 20 service fee; the ETA itself has no visa charge. Most grants are returned within minutes, though some go through additional checks of up to 24-72 hours. Once granted, the ETA is valid for 12 months (or until passport expiry, whichever is first) and permits unlimited entries, each stay capped at 3 months. The ETA does not permit work or study beyond short courses. For longer or repeated extended visits, Singapore citizens may instead apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600), which can be granted with up to 6-year validity at the Australian Visa Application Centre in Singapore.
