Singapore to United Kingdom visa requirements

UK ETA required since 8 January 2025. Fee is GBP 20; each visit can be up to 6 months. Singapore ordinary passport holders do not need a Standard Visitor visa for ordinary short visits to the United Kingdom, but they must hold a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling. Singapore is on UKVI's ETA eligibility list and was included in the non-European rollout requiring an ETA for UK travel on or after 8 January 2025. The current ETA fee is GBP 20 from 8 April 2026. The ETA is linked to the passport used to apply, lasts 2 years or until that passport expires, and permits multiple journeys with stays of up to 6 months at a time for tourism, family visits, permitted business, short study, permitted paid engagements, or landside transit. Apply through the official UK ETA app or GOV.UK; decisions usually arrive within a day, but travellers should allow up to 3 working days and wait for the approval email before travel. Landside transit through UK passport control requires an ETA; the Home Office April 2026 factsheet says eligible passengers transiting through Heathrow or Manchester without UK passport control do not currently need one. If an ETA is refused or the trip is outside visitor permission, use the appropriate UK visa route such as a Standard Visitor visa.
