Not yet. ETIAS is expected to launch in the last quarter of 2026 with a transitional grace period. Until it becomes mandatory, Malaysians travel visa-free with no online authorisation. Once required it will cost EUR 20 and be valid up to 3 years.

No visa needed. Malaysian ordinary passport holders can enter Romania visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Malaysia is on the EU's visa-exempt (Annex II) list, so holders of an ordinary Malaysian passport do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Romania.
