Yes. Malaysian ordinary passport holders can enter Malawi visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days. Malaysia is on Malawi's explicit visa-exemption list retained under the reciprocal visa regime that took effect on 3 January 2026. A Malaysia (MY) ordinary passport holder does NOT need a visa to visit Malawi (MW) for tourism or a short stay. On 3 January 2026 Malawi replaced its 2024 blanket visa-waiver scheme with a reciprocity-based regime that reintroduced visa requirements for most nationalities (including the UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, China and others). However, Malaysia was specifically retained on the visa-exempt list because Malaysia grants Malawian nationals visa-free entry. Malaysian travellers may enter for up to 90 days for tourism without any visa, eVisa or visa-on-arrival. No application or fee is required; travellers simply present a valid passport, proof of onward travel and proof of funds/accommodation at the port of entry. Passports should be valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry. Because the 2026 policy is recent and based on reciprocity, travellers should re-confirm their status on the official Malawi eVisa portal (evisa.gov.mw) shortly before departure, as reciprocal exemptions can change.
