Malaysia to Cuba visa requirements

Malaysian ordinary passport holders can visit Cuba visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism. No visa, tourist card, or e-visa is required, thanks to a bilateral visa-waiver agreement in force since 1998. You must still complete the free online D'Viajeros health and customs form before arrival and hold valid travel medical insurance. Malaysia and Cuba have had a mutual visa-exemption agreement since 26 May 1998 that allows Malaysian ordinary passport holders to enter Cuba without a visa for up to 90 days for tourism and short visits. Importantly, Cuba overhauled its entry system in 2025-2026: the old paper "tourist card" was discontinued (mid-2025) and replaced by a mandatory electronic visa (e-visa) for most nationalities from 1 January 2026. However, this change does NOT affect Malaysia. Nationals of countries with a bilateral visa-waiver agreement, Malaysia included, remain fully visa-exempt and do not need the e-visa. Authoritative sources (Cuba visa policy, the Malaysian Embassy in Havana, and visa databases) all confirm Malaysia's continued 90-day visa-free status as of mid-2026. The only universal pre-arrival formality is the free online D'Viajeros form (health declaration + customs), which generates a QR code required at check-in and Cuban immigration. Cuba also requires valid travel health insurance covering medical care and repatriation; uninsured travelers may be required to purchase a local policy on arrival. Travelers should also carry a passport valid at least 6 months, proof of onward/return travel, evidence of sufficient funds (around USD 50/day), and a confirmed accommodation booking. Cuba is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
