Malaysia to Australia visa requirements

ETA Subclass 601 required (AUD 20 service charge). Multiple entries, up to 3 months per visit, valid 12 months. Malaysia is not eligible for the free eVisitor. Malaysian ordinary passport holders need an Australian Electronic Travel Authority (ETA, Subclass 601) to visit Australia for tourism or business visits. Malaysia is on the ETA-eligible passport list but is NOT eligible for the free eVisitor (Subclass 651), which is reserved for European passport holders — so Malaysians apply for the AUD 20 ETA. The ETA itself carries no Visa Application Charge; the AUD 20 is a service charge for using the official Australian ETA app, which is the only application channel. The ETA permits multiple entries with up to 3 months stay per visit and is valid for 12 months or until passport expiry, whichever is shorter. Approval is usually granted within minutes, though some applications take up to 24 hours or longer for checks, so apply well before departure. Work is not permitted on an ETA; longer stays or other purposes require a Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) or other visa.
