Indonesia to Sri Lanka visa requirements

Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a tourist Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before traveling to Sri Lanka, but as of 25 May 2026 the ETA is issued FREE OF CHARGE to Indonesia (one of 40 eligible nationalities). It grants a 30-day stay with double entry. Apply online at eta.gov.lk before departure; you cannot get it on arrival under the free scheme. Indonesia is not visa-free for Sri Lanka, but it is included in the 40 nationalities that, effective 25 May 2026, receive a tourist ETA at no cost. The ETA remains mandatory and must be approved before boarding. The free ETA allows a 30-day stay from first arrival with a double-entry facility (a second entry only grants the unused balance of the 30 days). Applications are submitted online through the official Department of Immigration & Emigration portal (eta.gov.lk) and are typically approved within 24-72 hours; many are near-instant. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry. Travelers wanting to stay longer can extend in-country (first extension up to 60 additional days, with further extensions possible) on payment of the applicable fee. Although the tourist ETA itself is now free for Indonesians, applicants should beware of unofficial third-party sites that add service charges; always use the government domain eta.gov.lk.
