Do Indonesia passport holders need a visa to visit Japan?

Visa required, or visa-free with registered e-Passport. eVisa available IDR 530,000 (15 days). Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Japan — Indonesia is not on Japan's standard visa exemption list. However, Indonesians with the biometric (e-Passport) can pre-register at a Japanese embassy/consulate to receive a visa exemption sticker, then enter visa-free for up to 15 days per visit for tourism. Without pre-registration or with a non-biometric passport, a standard tourist visa is required (single-entry, 15-day stay typical). Japan launched an eVisa for Indonesia in 2023, processed through accredited travel agencies for IDR 530,000. Multi-entry visas valid 3-5 years are available for travellers with prior visit history.
