Do Japan passport holders need a visa to visit Indonesia?

Visa-free up to 30 days under Indonesia's reinstated visa-exempt list. SatuSehat health declaration may apply. Japanese ordinary passport holders enter Indonesia visa-free for up to 30 days per entry under Indonesia's restored visa exemption list — Japan is one of nine ASEAN+ countries that retained the free 30-day pass when Indonesia tightened most other waivers in 2022-2023. The exemption covers tourism, business meetings, family visits, and transit. The 30-day stay cannot be extended in-country on the visa-free pass — for longer stays travellers should instead enter on the Visa on Arrival (IDR 500,000), which provides 30 days plus one in-country extension of 30 more days. All foreign visitors must complete the SatuSehat health declaration online before arrival (free, replaced the earlier e-HAC). For work, study, journalism, or longer stays the corresponding Indonesian visa is required.
