Indonesia to North Korea visa requirements

Indonesian ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit North Korea. There is no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival channel: a DPRK tourist visa (issued as a separate "tourist card", never stamped in the passport) can only be arranged through a North Korean state-approved tour operator as part of a fully guided package tour. Note that as of mid-2026 North Korea remains largely closed to general international tourism (only Russian nationals are currently being admitted as tourists), so an actual visit may not be bookable. A holder of an Indonesian ordinary passport must obtain a visa before traveling to North Korea (DPRK) for tourism. North Korea does not offer visa-free entry, eVisa, ETA, or visa-on-arrival to ordinary Indonesian passport holders. (A bilateral arrangement grants 14-day visa-free entry only to Indonesian DIPLOMATIC and SERVICE passport holders, which does not cover tourists on ordinary passports.) Tourism is not independent: a visitor must book a complete guided package (accommodation, transfers, guides, meals) through a North Korean state-approved travel agency registered with the State General Bureau of Tourist Guidance. That agency arranges the entry permit/tourist visa, which is issued as a separate "tourist card" rather than a passport sticker or stamp. Important current-status caveat (as of 1 June 2026): the DPRK remains broadly closed to international leisure tourism following its 2020 border closure. After a brief, three-week reopening of the Rason Special Economic Zone in February-March 2025 (since suspended), the only nationality currently being admitted for tourism is Russian. Japanese, South Korean and U.S. citizens are excluded, and Malaysian passport holders are subject to a travel ban; tour operators report they cannot confirm general tourist departures or secure visas at this time. An Indonesian traveler should therefore treat a visit as visa-required and currently impractical until a wider reopening is announced.
