Do France passport holders need a visa to visit TD?

French ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to visit Chad. Apply online at the official portal evisa.td before travel; it is the only valid channel since May 2026. A France (FR) ordinary passport holder cannot enter Chad (TD) visa-free for tourism. France is not on Chad's visa-exemption list, so a visa is mandatory regardless of trip length. Since December 2024 Chad has operated an official electronic visa portal at evisa.td, and as of May 11, 2026 all visa applications (except diplomatic and courtesy categories) must be filed exclusively online. Visas issued outside the official platform no longer permit entry after May 21, 2026, and manual/paper entry authorizations have been abolished. The standard short-stay tourist eVisa is single-entry, valid for 30 days with a maximum stay of 30 days, priced around 65,000 XAF (about USD 107), with typical processing of roughly 10 business days. Travelers should apply at least two to three weeks ahead. The passport must be valid at least six months beyond the intended stay and contain blank pages. Note an important on-arrival obligation: all foreign visitors must complete police registration within 72 hours of arrival in Chad. A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry. Multiple-entry or longer stays generally require application through a Chadian embassy/consulate. Verdict: eVisa required for French tourists.
