Spain to El Salvador visa requirements

Spanish ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in El Salvador. They enter visa-free and buy a $12 USD tourist card on arrival, valid for up to 90 days. Spain (ES) is on El Salvador's visa-exemption list, so Spanish ordinary passport holders can travel for tourism without applying for a visa in advance. On arrival at the airport, seaport, or land border, travelers purchase a Tourist Card (Tarjeta de Turismo) for 12 USD, paid in cash. This card authorizes a short stay of up to 90 days. Importantly, El Salvador is part of the Central America-4 (CA-4) Border Control Agreement together with Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua: the 90-day limit applies cumulatively to time spent across all four CA-4 countries, not 90 days per country. A passport valid for the duration of the stay (commonly advised to be valid 6 months) with at least one blank page is required, and immigration officers may ask for proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds. Stays beyond the initial period can be extended once through the Salvadoran immigration authority (Direccion General de Migracion y Extranjeria). El Salvador is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply to this destination; ETIAS is instead a future requirement for Salvadorans visiting Europe, not for Spaniards visiting El Salvador. Verdict: visa-free for short tourist visits, with only the on-arrival tourist card to pay.
