Spain to United States visa requirements

Spanish passport holders generally use ESTA under the Visa Waiver Program, not a visitor visa, for tourism, business, or transit stays up to 90 days. Spanish ordinary passport holders can travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) for tourism, business, or transit stays of up to 90 days. They need an approved ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before boarding a US-bound air or sea carrier and must hold a valid biometric e-passport. As of 2026-06-19, an approved ESTA costs USD 40.27: a USD 10.27 application/cost-recovery charge is collected even if denied, and a USD 30 authorization charge is added only if approved. ESTA is generally valid for 2 years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first, and can be used for multiple VWP trips. ESTA does not guarantee admission; CBP officers make the final entry decision. Travelers need a visa instead if they are staying more than 90 days, working, studying for credit, settling, using a non-approved carrier or private aircraft, or are VWP-ineligible because of restricted travel history, dual nationality, prior refusals, or other inadmissibility issues.
