Spain to Japan visa requirements
Visa-free up to 90 days. Visit Japan Web is optional but recommended for arrival procedures. No 6-month extension. Spanish ordinary passport holders enter Japan visa-free for up to 90 days as Temporary Visitors for tourism, business meetings, conferences, short non-remunerated visits, and family visits. Unlike the small group of Note 8 countries on Japan's MOFA list, such as Germany and the United Kingdom, Spain does not have a 6-month bilateral extension arrangement, so the maximum ordinary visa-free stay is 90 days per entry. Visit Japan Web is the recommended digital pre-registration for immigration and customs arrival procedures and now uses a unified QR code; paper forms remain accepted. Japan's planned JESTA electronic travel authorization is targeted for fiscal year 2028 and is not required in 2026. Paid work, income-earning activity, study or residence beyond the Temporary Visitor scope, and long stays require the appropriate visa before travel.
