Spain to Nigeria visa requirements

Spanish ordinary passport holders need a visa for Nigeria. Since 1 May 2025, Nigeria replaced visa-on-arrival with a fully online e-Visa. Apply for the Tourism Visa (F5A) at evisa.immigration.gov.ng before travel; approval typically arrives within 24-48 hours and is valid for a single entry / 30-day stay. Nigeria is a visa-required destination for Spanish citizens, and it is not part of the Schengen area, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply (those are for travel into the Schengen zone, not out of Spain to Nigeria). Effective 1 May 2025, the Nigerian Minister of Interior and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) discontinued the Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) programme on national-security grounds and launched a new electronic visa (e-Visa) system under the Nigeria Visa Policy 2025. All eligible short-stay travellers, including Spaniards, must now apply online through the official NIS e-Visa portal (evisa.immigration.gov.ng) before departure rather than obtaining a visa at the airport. For tourism, the relevant category is the Tourism Visa F5A: a single-entry visa valid 90 days from issuance, permitting a stay of up to 30 days, not extendable, and strictly for tourism (no employment). The system is designed to process applications within 24-48 hours, with the approval letter emailed to the applicant for printing; on arrival, immigration officers endorse a visa sticker into the passport. A digital arrival/exit (landing/departure) card is also part of the 2025 reforms. Spain is among the 177 nationalities eligible for the e-Visa (it is not on the list of 25 ineligible countries that must use embassies). Fees are reciprocity-based by nationality; published figures cluster around USD 160-180 for many Western nationalities. Overstays are now penalised heavily (reported fines around USD 200/day plus possible bans), so travellers should respect the 30-day limit. Because this is a recent, still-stabilising system that may experience portal technical issues, travellers should apply well ahead of travel and verify the live fee and eligibility on the official portal.
