Spain to Lesotho visa requirements

Spanish ordinary passport holders can enter Lesotho visa-free for tourism for up to 14 days. No visa or eVisa is required for short visits; just arrive with a valid passport and proof of onward travel and accommodation. As of 2 June 2026, Spain is treated as an EU member state under Lesotho's visa policy, which grants visa-free entry to all EU citizens for tourist stays of up to 14 days. A Spanish ordinary passport holder visiting Lesotho for tourism therefore does not need a visa or eVisa for a short stay; entry is granted on arrival at the border or airport with a free entry stamp. Lesotho's electronic visa (eVisa) portal has been suspended since April 2024 due to security concerns, but this does not affect visa-exempt EU travelers — only those who need an actual visa (for example, longer stays, work, or non-exempt nationalities) must apply by email to the Immigration Department or through a Lesotho diplomatic mission. In May 2025 the Lesotho Cabinet approved a broader EU visa-free arrangement, with implementation details still pending; the operative rule for now remains 14 days visa-free for EU/Spanish tourists. Lesotho is NOT part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and the EU ETIAS scheme are irrelevant to entering Lesotho (ETIAS concerns non-EU visitors entering Europe, not EU citizens leaving it). Travelers should ensure their passport is valid for at least six months beyond arrival and carry evidence of accommodation and a return/onward ticket, as immigration officers may ask for these. Visitors who wish to stay beyond 14 days should contact the Lesotho immigration authorities in advance to arrange an extension or a visa, as overstaying carries penalties. Because most travel to Lesotho transits through South Africa (the country is fully landlocked by South Africa), Spanish visitors should also confirm South African transit rules, though Spain is likewise visa-exempt for short visits to South Africa.
