Spain to Hungary visa requirements

No visa. As an EU citizen, a Spanish ordinary passport holder enjoys full freedom of movement and can enter Hungary for tourism with just a valid passport or national ID card, staying as long as they wish. Spain and Hungary are both EU member states and part of the Schengen area. Under the EU's freedom of movement rules (Directive 2004/38/EC), a Spanish citizen does not need a visa to enter Hungary and is not subject to the Schengen 90/180-day short-stay limit that applies to non-EU nationals. A Spanish national may travel with either a valid passport or a valid national identity card (DNI). The upcoming ETIAS travel authorisation and the Entry/Exit System (EES) apply only to non-EU visa-exempt travellers, so they do not affect Spanish (EU) citizens. There are no border-entry fees. Stays in Hungary exceeding 90 days require registration with the Hungarian immigration authority (a residence registration, not a visa), reflecting EU free-movement administrative rules rather than any visa requirement.
