Spain to The Gambia visa requirements
Spanish ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to The Gambia. As an EU member state, Spain is covered by The Gambia's non-reciprocal visa waiver, allowing visa-free entry for stays of up to 90 days. A small security fee is payable on arrival and departure. The Gambia grants visa-free entry to nationals of all European Union member states, the United Kingdom, Commonwealth countries and ECOWAS members for holiday or business visits not exceeding 90 days. Spain is explicitly named on the Government of The Gambia's visa-exemption list, so Spanish ordinary passport holders can travel for tourism without applying for any visa, eVisa or visa-on-arrival in advance. The Gambia is in West Africa and is not part of the Schengen Area, so Schengen 90/180 rules and ETIAS do not apply to entry into The Gambia. On arrival at Banjul International Airport travelers are enrolled in the Integrated Immigration Control System (biometric capture of fingerprints, iris and passport data page) and typically receive an entry stamp; the permitted visa-free stay is up to 90 days, extendable at the Department of Immigration in Banjul if needed. A security fee of USD 20 (approximately D1,000) is collected in cash on both arrival and departure. Note that a few third-party visa-service sites incorrectly list Spain as visa-required; this contradicts the official Government of The Gambia exemption list, which names Spain among the no-visa countries. Travelers should still confirm with their carrier or the Gambian Embassy (Brussels/EU mission) shortly before departure, and ensure the passport is valid for at least six months with proof of onward travel and sufficient funds.
