Spain to Greenland visa requirements

Spanish ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Greenland for tourism. As EU/Schengen-exempt nationals, they may enter visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, using a valid passport. Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark but is NOT part of the European Union nor the Schengen Area, so it operates its own visa policy. Nationals who are exempt from Schengen short-stay visas, which includes all EU citizens such as Spaniards, may visit Greenland without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. A Spanish ordinary passport is sufficient; no eVisa, visa-on-arrival, or pre-travel authorization is required. Crucially, a Danish or Schengen visa is NOT valid for Greenland, but since Spaniards are EU citizens they need no Schengen visa at all. ETIAS does not apply to EU nationals (it targets visa-exempt non-EU travelers), and Greenland is in any case outside the ETIAS zone, so Spanish travelers face no ETIAS requirement. Travelers should carry a passport (an EU national ID card alone is not accepted for Greenland), and a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure is recommended. There are no scheduled changes to this status as of mid-2026. Practically, most travel to Greenland routes through Denmark (Copenhagen) or Iceland; the journey through Danish airports is an internal Schengen/Danish matter for which the Spanish passport also suffices.
