Spain to Afghanistan visa requirements

Spanish passport holders need a visa for Afghanistan. As of March 2026, the simplest route is the official online tourist e-Visa via the E-Afghans portal (single entry, 30-day stay). Spain's Foreign Ministry strongly advises against all travel to Afghanistan. Spain (ES) ordinary passport holders are NOT visa-exempt for Afghanistan (AF) and cannot obtain a visa on arrival or at land borders. Since March 2026, Afghanistan operates an official online tourist e-Visa through the E-Afghans portal (eafghans.com/e-visa). It is a single-entry visa permitting a stay of up to 30 days, valid for entry within 90 days of issue, and currently usable only when arriving by air at Kabul International Airport (Hamid Karzai International). Spanish citizens are eligible; the only blanket exclusion is for Israeli citizens/residents. The total cost is roughly USD 128 (USD 8 application fee, USD 120 visa fee, plus a small ~USD 3.71 processing charge), with standard processing of 1-3 weeks. Critically, Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (exteriores.gob.es) recommends against any travel to Afghanistan due to a very high risk of terrorism, kidnapping and detention; there is no Afghan embassy in Spain and no Spanish embassy in Afghanistan. A visa does not guarantee admission, and travelers must keep the visa valid through their departure date or face fines on exit.
