Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit Thailand?

Australian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Thailand. Under the visa exemption scheme they currently receive up to 60 days visa-free on arrival, but every traveler must submit the free online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours before arrival. Australia is on Thailand's visa exemption (P.P.30) list. As of 30 May 2026, Australian tourists may enter visa-free for up to 60 days per visit and can extend once by 30 days at a local immigration office (1,900 THB). The TDAC online arrival card is mandatory for all foreign nationals and must be lodged within 72 hours before arrival via the official portal (free of charge). Note: in May 2026 the Thai cabinet approved a plan to reduce the visa-free period back to 30 days, but no implementation date has been announced and the 60-day rule remains in force at this time. Travelers should carry a passport valid for at least 6 months, onward/return ticket, and proof of funds (20,000 THB per person / 40,000 THB per family).
