Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit NO?
No visa required. Australian passport holders can visit Norway visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period as part of the Schengen short-stay rules. Norway is part of the Schengen Area, and Australia is on the Schengen visa-exempt list. As an Australian ordinary passport holder, you may enter Norway for tourism without a visa and stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. This 90-day allowance is shared across all Schengen countries combined, not per country. Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area and should have been issued within the previous 10 years. At the border you may be asked to show proof of onward/return travel, sufficient funds, and accommodation. As of 30 May 2026 no online pre-authorisation is required: the EU ETIAS travel authorisation is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026 with a transitional grace period, so it is not yet mandatory. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) biometric border checks are also rolling out. Once ETIAS is live, Australians will need an approved authorisation (EUR 20, valid up to 3 years) before travel; until then, travel remains purely visa-free.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
