Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit LT?

Australian ordinary passport holders can visit Lithuania visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Lithuania is in the Schengen area and Australia is on the EU visa-exempt (Annex II) list. As of 30 May 2026, no ETIAS authorisation is required yet, but it will become mandatory once it launches (expected late 2026 / Q4 2026). Lithuania is a member of the Schengen area, and Australia is one of the EU's visa-exempt third countries. This means an Australian ordinary passport holder may enter Lithuania (and the wider Schengen zone) without a visa for short stays of up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period for tourism or business. No advance application or fee is required at present. Two new EU systems are being introduced: the Entry/Exit System (EES), which registers biometric data (fingerprints and a facial photo) at the external border on entry/exit, and ETIAS, a travel authorisation visa-exempt nationals (including Australians) will need to obtain online before travel. ETIAS is not yet operational as of 30 May 2026; its launch is expected around the last quarter of 2026, followed by a transitional grace period. Until ETIAS is live and mandatory, Australians need only a valid passport. The passport must be issued within the previous 10 years and valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen area. The 90-day allowance is shared across all Schengen states, so days spent in other Schengen countries count toward the Lithuania total.
