Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit KZ?

Australian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist trips to Kazakhstan. You can enter visa-free and stay up to 30 calendar days per entry, capped at 90 days within any 180-day period. Kazakhstan is not in the Schengen area, so no ETIAS/Schengen rules apply. Australia is on Kazakhstan's visa-free list for ordinary passport holders. As of 2026-05-30, Australians may enter without a visa for tourism and stay up to 30 calendar days on each entry, with the total stay not exceeding 90 calendar days in any rolling 180-day period (counted by looking back 180 days from the entry/exit date, in force since 27 January 2023). A July 2025 draft resolution confirmed Australia stays in the 30-day visa-free band (unchanged). The passport should be valid at least 6 months on entry with a blank visa page; a migration card is issued at the border and must be kept. Crucially, the host/accommodation provider must register the traveller with migration authorities within 3 working days of arrival (most hotels do this automatically). For stays longer than 30 days, or to pre-arrange entry, Kazakhstan offers an e-visa (tourist category), but it is not required for a normal short visit. Kazakhstan is in Central Asia, not the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
