🇦🇺AUSTRALIA🇭🇰HONG KONGAU-HK Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit Hong Kong?
No visa needed. Australian ordinary passport holders can enter Hong Kong visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism or short visits. Australian ordinary passport holders do not need a visa to visit Hong Kong for tourism or short business and may stay for up to 90 days per entry. Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China with its own immigration controls separate from mainland China, so a Chinese visa is not required for Hong Kong itself. There is no eTA, online registration, or pre-arrival form for visa-free Australian visitors; you simply present a valid passport at immigration on arrival. Your passport should have at least one month of validity beyond your intended departure date, though six months is widely recommended and required if you may continue onward elsewhere. Visa-free entry covers tourism, visiting friends/family, and short business meetings, but does not permit taking up employment, study, or residence. For stays beyond 90 days or for work/study, you must apply for the appropriate entry visa from the Immigration Department in advance. Note that Hong Kong and mainland China are separate immigration jurisdictions: a Hong Kong visa-free entry does not allow entry to mainland China, which requires its own visa or visa-free arrangement.
