Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit Finland?

No visa needed. Australian passport holders can enter Finland visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism. Australia is on the EU's visa-exempt list, so ordinary Australian passport holders may travel to Finland — a Schengen Area member — without a visa for short stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period for tourism, business, or visiting family. No visa or pre-travel authorisation is required as of 30 May 2026. Note two upcoming EU systems: the Entry/Exit System (EES) for biometric border registration began phased rollout in late 2025, and ETIAS (a EUR 20 online travel authorisation) is scheduled to launch in late 2026 with a transition period before it becomes mandatory in 2027. Until ETIAS is live and enforced, Australians need only a valid passport. Your passport should be valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area and issued within the previous 10 years.
