Do Australia passport holders need a visa to visit CH?

No visa required. Australian ordinary passport holders can visit Switzerland visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period under the Schengen short-stay rules. Australia is a Schengen visa-exempt nationality, and Switzerland is a full member of the Schengen Area. Australian ordinary passport holders may enter Switzerland for tourism, business or family visits without a visa for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. No advance application is currently required. The EU's ETIAS travel authorisation, which will apply to visa-exempt travellers including Australians, is scheduled to launch in late 2026 but is NOT yet mandatory as of 30 May 2026 — so no ETIAS is needed for travel today. The Entry/Exit System (EES) is being rolled out at Schengen external borders, where Australians will register fingerprints and a facial photo on arrival at no cost. Travellers must hold a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the last 10 years. The 90-day allowance is shared across ALL Schengen countries combined, not per country.
