Turkish ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Georgia. They can enter visa-free and stay for up to 365 days (1 year) per entry for tourism, business, or private visits. Turkish citizens may also enter using a chip-enabled national ID card instead of a passport. Georgia is one of the most open destinations for Turkish nationals. Under Georgia's visa-free regime (Government Decree No. 255), citizens of Turkey holding an ordinary passport may enter without a visa and remain for up to 365 consecutive days per stay for tourism and most short purposes. Georgia is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the 90/180-day rule and ETIAS do not apply. Uniquely, Turkish citizens (alongside a handful of neighboring countries) may cross the border using a new-generation biometric/chip ID card rather than a passport. There is no entry fee for the visa-free stay. Note an important 2026 change: since 1 January 2026, all foreign nationals entering Georgia must hold valid travel medical insurance with minimum coverage of 30,000 GEL for the duration of their stay. Travelers should carry proof of onward travel and sufficient funds, and ensure their passport or ID card is valid for the intended stay.
