A Japanese ordinary passport holder needs a visa for Burundi. The recommended option is the official online eVisa from Burundi's General Commissariat for Migration (migration.gov.bi). Visa on arrival is available at Bujumbura International Airport (Melchior Ndadaye) and at land borders for stays up to one month, but securing the eVisa in advance is the safer route. A valid International Certificate of Vaccination against yellow fever is compulsory; the original card must have been issued at least 10 days before travel. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months. Travelers should print two copies of the approved visa (one for entry, one for exit) and verify current details directly with the official migration portal before departure, as fees and procedures can change.
