Do Hong Kong passport holders need a visa to visit NG?
HK SAR ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Nigeria. As of May 2025, Nigeria runs a fully online eVisa system and has discontinued visa-on-arrival. Apply for the Tourism Visa (F5A) via the official eVisa portal before you travel. A holder of a Hong Kong SAR ordinary passport requires a visa to enter Nigeria for tourism. Nigeria does not grant visa-free or visa-waiver access to Hong Kong passport holders (waivers apply only to ECOWAS member states and a small number of treaty countries). Since 1 May 2025 Nigeria operates a fully digital eVisa system through the Nigeria Immigration Service portal, and the previous visa-on-arrival channel has been discontinued. The appropriate category for a short tourist visit is the Tourism Visa (F5A), a single-entry eVisa allowing a stay of up to 30 days, valid for 90 days from issuance and not extendable from inside Nigeria. Applications are submitted online with supporting documents (passport bio-data page, photo, return ticket, hotel/host address, and a bank statement), the fee is paid online, and approvals with an eVisa sticker and QR code are normally returned by email within 24-48 hours. Travelers must also complete a separate electronic landing card up to 72 hours before arrival. Hong Kong residents may alternatively apply through the Nigerian Consulate-General in Hong Kong, but the eVisa is the standard and faster route. Nigeria is in West Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
