Do France passport holders need a visa to visit DO?
French passport holders do not need a visa to visit the Dominican Republic for tourism. You may enter visa-free for up to 30 days (extendable in-country). Before flying, complete the free online e-Ticket; the US$10 Tourist Card fee is now bundled into your airfare for air arrivals. Citizens of France (an EU member state) travel visa-free to the Dominican Republic for tourism. The Dominican Directorate General of Migration and the official tourism authority confirm that EU nationals enter without a visa for short stays. Two practical steps remain: (1) every traveler must complete the mandatory, free electronic e-Ticket at eticket.migracion.gob.do before boarding, which produces a QR code for entry and exit; and (2) the US$10 Tourist Card, formerly a separate purchase, is now automatically included in airline ticket prices for air travelers, granting an initial stay of 30 days. Under an exceptional measure in force from 1 December 2024 through 31 December 2026, EU passports need only be valid for the duration of the stay rather than the usual six months. Overstaying the 30-day window is permitted but triggers a sliding-scale surcharge paid on departure (stays can effectively be extended up to 120 days and beyond by paying the overstay fee). Travelers should carry a return/onward ticket, proof of sufficient funds, and an address in the country. There is no Schengen relevance: the Dominican Republic is a Caribbean nation, not part of Europe, and ETIAS does not apply to this route.
