Spanish ordinary passport holders need a visa for Egypt, but can obtain it easily online as an eVisa (USD 25 single-entry, 30-day stay) before travel, or as a visa on arrival (USD 30 since March 2026) at major airports. The eVisa is the recommended, lowest-stress option. Egypt is not visa-free for Spanish (ES) citizens, but Spain is one of the EU member states eligible for Egypt's online eVisa and for a visa on arrival at international airports. The official Egypt eVisa portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg) issues a single-entry tourist eVisa for USD 25 allowing a stay of up to 30 days, or a multiple-entry eVisa for USD 60 (30 days per entry within a 90-day window). Alternatively, Spanish tourists can buy a visa on arrival; this fee rose from USD 25 to USD 30 on 1 March 2026. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. For predictability and to avoid airport queues or portal/payment hiccups, applying for the eVisa at least one week before departure is recommended. Egypt is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
