Do Germany passport holders need a visa to visit MN?

German ordinary passport holders can enter Mongolia visa-free for tourism and short visits of up to 30 days. No visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is needed for stays within this period. Germany and Mongolia maintain a mutual visa-waiver arrangement, and Germany is listed on Mongolia's official consular visa-exemption list (in force since 1 September 2013, applicable to all passport types) for stays of up to 30 days. A German ordinary passport holder traveling for tourism or a short business visit needs only a valid passport and an onward/return plan; no visa is required and no fee is charged. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry and contain at least two blank pages. Mongolia separately runs a temporary unilateral visa-free program covering 34+ nationalities through end of 2026/into 2027, but Germany's access does not depend on that temporary scheme. Important conditions: the 30-day visa-free stay is not extendable as a tourist without applying for a residence/extension through the Mongolian Immigration Agency; visitors who plan to stay more than 30 days must register with the Immigration Agency in Ulaanbaatar within 7 working days of arrival and obtain the appropriate visa beforehand. For trips longer than 30 days, a visa (often an eVisa) must be obtained in advance. Always reconfirm rules close to departure, as Mongolia has periodically adjusted its visa-free lists in 2024-2026.
