Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit YE?

A Brazilian ordinary passport holder needs a visa to enter Yemen for tourism. Brazil is not eligible for visa-on-arrival, and the only electronic option is restricted to organised tour groups (10+ people) booked through accredited Yemeni agencies. In practice, individual tourist visas are largely on hold due to the ongoing conflict, and most governments advise against all travel to Yemen. Brazil is not among the roughly 11 countries (mainly Gulf and a few Arab states) eligible for a visa on arrival in Yemen, nor does Yemen grant Brazilians visa-free access. A Yemeni entry visa must be obtained in advance from a Yemeni diplomatic mission, supported by an invitation/sponsor and a medical certificate confirming freedom from infectious diseases. Yemen launched an electronic visa system on 24 June 2025, but it is limited to approved tourist groups of at least 10 members travelling through accredited Yemeni travel agencies and approved by the General Authority for Tourism; even then an approved e-visa is collected as a sticker visa at an embassy/consulate. Independent tourist visas are effectively suspended, with entry visas issued mainly to people of Yemeni origin, NGO/international-organisation staff, journalists and diplomats. Yemen is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Overlaying all of this, Yemen is under the highest "do not travel" advisories from major governments because of armed conflict, terrorism, kidnapping and landmines, and consular assistance is essentially unavailable. For a Brazilian tourist the realistic answer is: a visa is required, must be arranged in advance, and genuine tourism is presently impractical.

How to apply

/01
Reconsider the trip and check travel advisories
Before anything else, review Brazil's Itamaraty advice and major advisories (US State Dept, UK FCDO). Yemen carries the highest 'do not travel' warnings due to war, terrorism and kidnapping; standard tourism is not currently viable and travel insurance/consular help will be very limited.
· Mandatory pre-check· Security
/02
Confirm you have a valid sponsor or invitation
Yemen requires an invitation letter from the Department of Immigration or a local sponsor/accredited tour agency. Individual leisure tourism without a sponsor is generally not approved; group tourist e-visas require a registered Yemeni travel agency and a group of at least 10.
· Invitation required
/03
Contact the Yemeni embassy/consulate accredited to Brazil
Approach the Yemeni diplomatic mission responsible for Brazil to confirm whether visas are being issued, the current document list and fees. The Yemen Embassy in Washington, for example, states it is not issuing tourist visas at this time, so confirm channel availability first.
· Embassy contact
/04
Assemble the document package
Prepare passport (6+ months validity, blank pages), completed application form, two passport photos, the invitation/sponsor letter, round-trip flight booking, and a doctor's certificate confirming you are free of infectious diseases.
· Documents
/05
Submit application and pay the fee
Lodge the application with the consulate (or via the approved agency for group e-visas). Pay the consular fee of about USD 65 plus any agency charges. For the e-visa route, approval is issued electronically but the sticker visa is still collected at a Yemeni mission.
· Submit· Fee ~USD 65
/06
Collect the visa and verify entry conditions
Once approved, collect the sticker visa and reconfirm the entry point, since airports and land borders open to foreigners are limited by the conflict. Keep copies of all approvals and the medical certificate to show on arrival.
