Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit YE?
UAE ordinary passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Yemen for stays of up to 3 months, under the Gulf Cooperation Council facilitation arrangement. Note: Yemen is under an active armed conflict and most governments advise against all travel. As of 2026-05-31, holders of an ordinary United Arab Emirates passport are eligible for a visa on arrival when entering Yemen, valid for a maximum stay of up to 3 months. The UAE is one of only eleven nationalities (alongside the other GCC states Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, plus Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Malaysia and Syria) granted visa-on-arrival access, a privilege tied to Gulf Cooperation Council cooperation arrangements. Separately, Yemen launched an electronic visa system on 24 June 2025 via the Immigration, Passports and Nationality Authority, but it is primarily aimed at organized tourist groups (minimum 10 members through an accredited agency), business travelers and transit cases; for an individual GCC short visit the visa-on-arrival channel is the standard route. Practical caveats are significant: Yemen is divided between rival authorities, several airports operate intermittently, entry requirements (including a health/medical certificate confirming freedom from infectious diseases) can be applied unpredictably, and passports showing any Israeli travel history may be refused. Critically, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and virtually all foreign ministries advise against all travel to Yemen due to ongoing armed conflict, terrorism and kidnapping risk. Travelers should confirm current conditions with the relevant Yemeni authority or embassy before departure, as the entry point (Aden vs. Sana'a) determines which administration controls immigration.
